Case Study: Supporting a Midlands Civil Engineering Company to Achieve SSIP Accreditation

BSHEQ recently partnered with a family-owned Civil Engineering company in the Midlands to help them secure SSIP accreditation. The business recognised that their existing safety management system was outdated and lacked the internal resources and expertise required to update it or manage the accreditation process.

Our Approach

We began with an initial consultation to understand their needs, including which SSIP scheme would best satisfy their clients’ requirements. Once the appropriate accreditation was identified, we carried out a full review and refresh of their safety management system.

Our support included:

• Updating key health and safety Policies and Processes

• Introducing new, relevant policies and removing outdated documentation • Reviewing existing health and safety training and recommending improvements

• Implementing an employee roll-out programme to embed the updated system over six months

The Outcome

We managed the full SSIP application on their behalf, and it was successful. With a compliant, modernised safety management system in place, the company has strengthened its credibility, improved health and safety performance, and gained the confidence to tender for larger and more profitable contracts.
